Bay Winds Eligibility
Autumn Winds is an experience designed to supplement the quality instruction students receive from their school-enrolled music programs and private music instructors. Students receive high-quality musical experiences from talented and well decorated professional musicians and educators as well as the opportunity to study and perform outstanding and challenging literature with like-minded peers from the Tampa Bay Area.
Student Eligibility
- Students must have at least one year of experience playing their instrument.
- Private, public, and home-schooled students are welcome to audition.
- Students must be in good standing with their local, registered school music programs.
- All students must submit an audition video for successful selection and assignment into an ability-based, tiered ensemble.
Registration & Enrollment
Autumn Winds is a component of the BAY Winds organization extends through the fall months. Students explore exciting and challenging repertoire in an 8-week intensive.
This youth ensemble experience is open to all area band students, though it is primarily geared towards middle school and young high school. This 8-week intensive is designed to provide middle and high school band students an opportunity to rehearse and perform with other dedicated and motivated student musicians in a community-based ensemble outside of their regular school band programs.
Participation is open by enrollment - no formal audition is necessary for any returning BAY Winds musicians (previous participation from Autumn Winds or BAY Winds Symphonic Band or Wind Ensemble). However, seating placements will take place during the first two rehearsals.
New enrolling students should submit a short recording demonstrating their playing ability to conductor, Dr. Brian J. Panetta, at panetbri@berkeleyprep.org. These recordings may include scales, etudes, solo works, or excerpts from music they may have worked on in their school band programs or private lessons in order to be properly placed within the ensemble.
Tuition Policy
Early Registration Tuition: $150.00 (Save $50 when registered and enrolled by August 23rd.)
Registration Tuition: $200.00 (If received after August 23rd.)
Tuition is due by the first rehearsal on September 9th, 2024.
BAY Winds is a non-profit organization. We rely on tuition revenue to operate and serve our student membership. Tuition is due and payable before the first rehearsal. This fee includes all instruction, materials, and costs related to concert venues, equipment, music, and operational expenses. Outstanding balances will prohibit students from future BAY Winds auditions and seasons until tuition balances have been paid in full.
Please Note: Tuition does not cover the cost of parking at the university.

Financial aid assistance is offered on an individual need basis. Financial aid applications are due by August 23rd, 2024. You will be notified by September 2nd, 2024 of your application status.
